Surface Inspection

RFS offers a variety of Non Destructive Testing products to suit surface inspection and toolmark replication testing. Check out our range of surface inspection NDT equipment.

  Visual Inspection / Magnifiers

Magnifiers - Illuminated, wide range of magnification.

  Borescopes, Fiberscopes and Videoscopes

A borescope is an optical device consisting of a rigid or flexible tube with an eyepiece on one end, an objective lens on the other linked together by a relay optical system in between. The optical system is usually surrounded by optical fibers used for illumination of the remote object and a rigid or flexible protective outer sheath. The remote object is illuminated and an internal image formed by the objective lens is relayed to the eyepiece which magnifies the internal image and presents it to the viewer's eye. Borescopes are used for inspection work where the area to be inspected is inaccessible by other means.

  Surface Replication

Surface Replication for industrial and investigative purposes.

Surface replication has been employed in engineering for many years, particularly for in situ high resolution metallography. Microset replicating compounds have a resolution better than 0.1 microns (4 x 10–6 inches) and can be used not only for metallography but also for a multitude of other purposes including forensic and 3-D applications.

  Welding and Pit Gauges

Manual pit gauges for measuring the depth of surface defects.

  Surface Coating

Instruments for measuring thickness of, or defects in, surface coatings of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

  Non Contact Thermometers (pyrometer)

Non-contact thermometers are the ideal professional diagnostic tools for HVAC technicians performing room balance checks, electricians evaluating electrical connections and auto mechanics diagnosing catalytic converters. This handheld portable tool enables professionals to research heating and ventilation problems, monitor the status of electrical motors and electrical panels and diagnose car malfunctions with ease. They measure surface temperatures, helping to quickly locate potential blockages or malfunctioning systems reducing work time and improving performance.

Welded Seam Vacuum Leak Detection Units

Leak detection with VSP-leak detection units and vacuum boxes.
Using the bubble test procedure according to DIN EN 1593, vacuum leak detection units of the VSP series allow a fast and safe leak testing of the welding seams of containers, pipes and many other welded structures. With this testing method even castings can be checked for continuous discontinuities (leaks, porosity).
